I'd like to remark, if you will pardon the tangent, that I have a extremely vivid image in my mind of the antique radio that at one time resided in your "ancestral" home. I always loved that radio. The folding stools were a very close second.

Me - I rigged up the Apple TV and rent from the iTunes store or plug into Hulu via the Boxee hack. Most definitely no need for cable anymore.

We don't have cable (TV) either. Never have.

Just got an HDMI converter for the Macbook. Between Hulu and Netflix, you can't go wrong.

It's good to hear that someone has had a fairly decent experience with Comcast. We switched to Comcast after 22 years with DirecTV (we actually purchased the original dish for $1,800).

I've just had a very bad experience with the Customer Service Department (which I think may have been resolved by a manager, however I will see in the next couple of days) and to be completely honest with you I don't have very much faith in the company.

Here's a run down of my issue (not for the squeamish or weak at heart!!!)

I called the Customer Service Department tonight between 7:30 and 8:30 this evening 6/30/2009 and I was connected to a CSR named Sam (if that's his real name). At the end of the call I was able to obtain his extension number (which I will not put on the website due to legal issues which may arise such as slander). I spoke with him concerning a missed appointment of a technician who was supposed to be at my house between 3 and 5 pm today. I was told the earliest day the tech would be available is Thursday. I asked for his "Operator ID" which apparently is no longer in use for Comcast and can you believe this................"HE LAUGHED!!!!!!" I told him I wanted to speak to the Customer Retention Department and HE LAUGHED AGAIN!!!!! I asked to speak with a Manager and he said it would be awhile - while LAUGHING and he placed me on hold. I was on hold for about 5 minutes or so and I disconnected!!!! I had to call back and wait on hold again and was finally able to speak with a Manager named Nick. He was 1,000 times more courteous than Sam and was able to schedule a Tech to show up tomorrow between 1 and 3 PM.

The problems that I'm having are with my Home Phone Service and my Cable Service. Two problems and Sam finds it very funny that I am upset with Comcast and their service. If anyone calls Comcast Customer Service and gets Sam - Immediately, and I can't stress this enough IMMEDIATELY hang up and call back. I'm still very upset at the way I was treated and I can honestly tell you that I will be contacting DirecTV tomorrow to change my Television provider. I will also contact Qwest tomorrow to change my internet service.

STAY AWAY FROM COMCAST. THEY DON'T CARE ABOUT THEIR CUSTOMERS AND APPARENTLY THEIR HIRING STANDARDS ARE LOW ENOUGH TO HIRE SOMEONE LIKE "SAM".

Good Luck to anyone who sticks with Comcast.
